Czech Hospital in Uganda Receives Award for Exemplary Infirmary Care
The St. Charles Lwanga Buikwe Hospital has received the Celestýn Opitz Award, which goes to outstanding personalities or projects that set an example in care-giving to the infirm or otherwise needy. It is being awarded by the Hospitaller Order of the Brothers of Saint John of God.
The Celestýn Opitz Awards ceremony took place at the end of October, at the Church of Sts. Simon and Jude in Prague 1, within the festive frame of a concert given by the chamber choir and orchestra of the Bach-Collegium Prague.
"We understand this award to be a gesture of appreciation and thanks towards all donors without whose support we would be unable to operate the hospital in Uganda," said Jarmila Lomozová from the Caritas of the Archdiocese of Prague. On behalf of the entire hospital team, she received the award from the hands of Brother Martin Macek, Prior of the Brothers Hospitallers of Saint John of God.
